Meet The Director





Mr. Nicholas Gibson is a native of Goshen, New York. He received his undergraduate degree in Music Education from Winthrop University in 2008. Mr. Gibson is currently teaching in the Union County Public School District serving as head band director in the Monroe cluster. He is the director of bands at Monroe High School where he assists with 4 middle school ensembles and directs the Monroe High Schools Jazz Band, Jazz Combos, Marching Band, Pep Band, Indoor Drum-line, Winter-guard, Brass Ensemble, Woodwind Ensembles, Small Ensembles, Concert Band and Symphonic Band.  During his tenure he has built the Monroe band program from 15 to currently 60 students and growing.  His middle school band program has grown from 70 students to over 200 students. He is a Member of North Carolina Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, North Carolina Bandmasters Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the South Central District Bandmasters Association. As an accomplished saxophone player, Mr. Gibson also gigs regularly around the Charlotte metro area and teaches private lessons. Mr. Gibson currently resides in Rock Hill SC with his wife Katie and dog Emma.
