School Instruments to be taken home over the summer

Students band instruments need to be taken home over the summer! There will be a sign out sheet on Monday June 3rd for those students who are using a school owned instrument. Please practice your marching music so we can have a very successful year! Remember band camp is July 29th!

Students there will not be a band banquet this year.  We will have an award ceremony in class on June 3rd. This will also be the time that band leadership for the 2013-2014 Band year will be reveled!

The city of Monroe has donated $3000 to the Monroe High School Band program! This is great news!! We are on course for having a great 2013-2014 band year!!

Today we will rehearse for our concert tonight  Remember to wear "church attire" that means look nice! NO JEANS OR TENNIS SHOES! Gentlemen  can wear dress shirt, nice pants, and dress shoes. (tie/suit optional)  Ladies can wear a dress or nice slacks and a blouse.  If you are confused about what to wear then wear concert black!

REVIEW HOW TO GET A MINOR SCALE!

1. WHAT IS RAISED OR LOWERED IN A HARMONIC MINOR SCALE?
-THE 7TH SCALE DEGREE IS RAISED BY A 1/2 STEP

2. WHAT IS RAISED OR LOWERED IN A MELODIC MINOR SCALE?
- THE 6TH AND 7TH ARE RAISED BY A 1/2 STEP GOING UP AND ARE LOWERED BY A 1/2 STEP GOING DOWN(NATURAL MINOR GOING DOWN)

3. HOW DO YOU GET A NATURAL MINOR SCALE FROM A MAJOR SCALE?
- YOU GO TO THE 6TH SCALE DEGREE IN THE MAJOR SCALE.(THAT STARTS THE MINOR SCALE ALSO REFERRED TO AS FINDING THE RELATIVE MINOR BECAUSE THEY SHARE THE SAME KEY SIGNATURE)
